Claire Horsfield
Network Manager / Lead Nurse

Claire joined the Network Team in April 2021 from the Lancashire & South Cumbria Critical Care & Major Trauma Network where she had been the Lead Nurse for over 7 years. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1992 and spent a significant part of her career in critical care before taking up a Matrons post at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where she provided leadership for the Infection Prevention and Control & Performance and Surveillance Team, before moving into a new role as Head of Patient Safety in 2012. During this time Claire also worked across the L&SC region as part of a NHSE work programme of patient safety. Claire joined the network in Lancashire and South Cumbria on a permanent basis as Lead nurse in 2014, having previously carried out a number of improvement projects for the network whilst on secondment. During this time, Claire has been the Chair of CC3N, representing critical care nursing at various meetings including the Adult Critical Care Clinical Reference Group and UKCCNA. Educated to Masters level, Claire has also recently completed the first cohort of Professional Nurse Advocate Training through the University of Canterbury and is looking forward to providing staff support through the embedding of this role across the network
Claire says;
            “I am incredibly passionate about critical care services and improving the quality of care we provide for our patients. I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with and support the critical care multi professional teams across West & South Yorkshire in their delivery of consistent, high quality and equitable services that meet the needs of our patients”.

Andrea Berry
Quality
Lead Nurse

I started my critical care career and 1983 - I think it was the right choice! I've covered pretty much all critical care nursing roles over the years, working both in the UK and overseas.

In 2007 I joined the Greater Manchester Critical Care Network as Lead Nurse, moving in 2015 to be the Manager/Lead Nurse fort the West Yorkshire Critical Care & Major Trauma Operational Delivery Networks. In 2021, just as the pandemic arrived, this patch was extended to include the South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw Critical Care ODN.

I chaired the Critical Care National Network Nurse Leads Forum (CC3N), was the first chair of the UK Critical Care Nursing Alliance (UKCCNA) and have been a Council member if the Intensive Care Society.

Having semi retired in April 2021 I now look forward to the new challenges in the role of Quality Lead Nurse for the SYB Critical Care ODN.
